6. INT. -- JOHN'S BEDROOM -- MORNING

Sixteen year old JOHN CONNOR sits at his home computer logging off from an online service. Brown comed back hair, dressed in rumpled blue jeans and a black shirt. He gets up. A small stereo by the computer plays a CD at half volume.

His mother, SARAH CONNOR, dressed in a light colored blouse and black slacks and low heeled pumps, steps into the room. Sarah is a far different person from when we last seen her. Now a modern working woman executive. She carefully runs a brush through her brunette wavy hair in short strokes.

John stands up in front of the chair and thrusts his old notebook computer and a fast food restaurant uniform into his book bag. He angrily zips it up.

Sarah
John? Are you going to your job after school?

John
(looking away)
Big Bob's. The hellhole?

Sarah
You've got to start somewhere. That's where I started

John
Yeah. "No fate but what we make for ourselves". Yeah right.

Sarah
You won't be sucessful with that attitude. It's over, we beat the machines. Now I've make something of myself since I was freed from the institution...

John plunks his bag onto the chair

John
....because none of the cops actually laid eyes on you at Cyberdyne. Therefore you proved you weren't there
(beat)
with the help of a lawyer who compared the LAPD to Nazis.

Johnnie Cochran? As John starts to turn away, Sarah grabs him by the arm.
