JOHN
(sighs)
"No fate but what we make for ourselves."

John continues to rummage in his book bag.

JOHN
Fake IDs, safe houses, paranoia --

He comes across a girl's picture, examines it.

JOHN (cont'd)
-- broken relationships.

He wads up the picture, tosses it in the trash.

JOHN (cont'd)
The norm.

Sarah sees John's programming on the screen. John clicks the mouse on a pull-down menu, saves a copy of the program.

SARAH
I know it hurts, but the mission's our priority.
(sighs)
Did you finish my program?

JOHN
Yeah I got the bugs out of it.
(beat)
By the way, what'd you find out this morning?

Sarah walks to the Macintosh. She takes a CD-ROM out of her Jacket pocket and puts it in the CD drive. Sarah moves a copy of the LA Times out of the way. The headlines read: RUSSIA INVADES MIDDLE EAST; Russian Ultra-nationalists on rampage.

Sarah motions the mouse to click on the picture files. The Photo Viewing program activates. Pictures of Steve appear. Cortez and the other two men watch.

SARAH
