The computer displays records of uploads and downloads of files to Digital Integrated Industries.

INT. DIGITAL INT. INDUS. -- DESIGN LAB -- NIGHT

Several small battery powered lanterns light the design lab. Nearly every appliance and computer is unplugged. Steve and John are eating slices from a DOMINO'S pizza. Sarah glances at a computer while cleaning an Uzi machine pistol. The Art Bell COAST TO COAST SHOW is playing on a Baygen Wind-up radio, the crank slowly unwinding.

ART BELL

From the high desert, this is Coast to Coast, I'm Art Bell. Tonight's subject, "Underground Computer in New Mexico," has been delayed.

Steve, Sarah and John look to the radio upon the mentioning of the "Underground Computer in New Mexico."

The Quickening is climaxing. There're riots in L.A. The National Guard has been put on alert.

Sarah stops cleaning the Uzi.

Radio and TV stations have been blown up. Communications are spotty all over Los Angeles.

JOHN
Strange days.

As for the mid-east crisis, the government claims it will not lead to nuclear war. Hmmmm. They say everything has been accounted for.

SARAH
Except the machines.

STEVE AND JOHN

sit in front of a PowerPC 2000. Steve's briefcase and Sarah's box of programs sit next to it. Sarah walks over to join them. She picks up a napkin and a slice of the pizza. She munches on it, watching.
