TERMINATOR 3: ARMAGEDDON

FADE IN:

DARKNESS

A WOMAN'S VOICE, that of SARAH CONNOR, speaks.

SARAH CONNOR (V.O.)
On August 29, 1997, a government computer known as Sky- Net, built by the Cyberdyne Corporation, became self-aware and set off a nuclear war that destroyed almost all life on earth. The survivors called it "Judgement Day." Judgement Day was the first step in the war against the machines. That war was led by John Connor. My son.

EXT. DESERT -- EARLY MORNING

The horizon is beet red from the rising sun. Electric high tension lines hang over the desert on towers near a road.

SARAH (cont'd, V.O.)
At least, that was how it originally happened. Sky-Net tried twice to change the course of history by sending two terminators back in time. In 1984 Sky-Net sent the first terminator back in time to murder me before I could conceive John. The protector John sent back for me -- and in the long run himself -- turned out to be Kyle Reese -- John's father.

A lizard skitters out of the ground, scrounging for food. It finds some.

SARAH (cont'd, V.O.)
When John was still a child, Sky-Net tried again, sending back a T-1000 terminator -- liquid metal. John, in the future, reprogrammed an original model terminator and sent it back to protect him.

Another lizard comes up to the first and tries to steal the food. They start fighting for it.

SARAH (cont'd, V.O.)
We found the CPU that would be invented by Cyberdyne -- more specifically, by Miles Dyson -- the one that was to be used in Sky- Net -- and destroyed it, in the process killing Miles Dyson and blowing up half of Cyberdyne itself.

The second lizard wins and begins eating the food.

SARAH (cont'd, V.O.)
We thought we had won. We had changed history completely. August 29, 1997 came and went without incident. We thought it was all over.
